Main Facilities at P.LAS.M.I. Lab @ Bari
• HPC Cluster to support computational job on Plasma Modelling and a web-based database of state-selected dynamical information for elementary processes relevant to the state-to-state kinetic modelling of ionized gases
• Spectroscopy facilities for the characterization of: energy transfers in plasma phase and laser induced plasmas
• Micro-Wave Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (MWPECVD) facility
Instrumentation for atom, molecules and excited states energy levels detection:
• Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) / Two Photon Absorption LIF (TALIF)
• Coherent Antistokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS)
• Cavity Ring Dowm spectroscopy (CRDS)
1. Nd:YAG (1064nm, 532 nm) pumped Dye Laser, both lasers with narrow linewidth (<0.04 cm−1). Optical systems for second and thrd harmonic generation (200 nm <λ< 980 nm)

NANOTEC Bari Cluster is essentially used for scientific computation, but there is also a server dedicated to the PHYS4ENTRY DB that is a web-published database of state-selected dynamical information for elementary processes relevant to the state-to-state kinetic modeling.

The MWPECVD apparatus is the main facility of this lab and includes:
*ASTeX-type reactor
*Substrate holder (diameter=10 cm)
-tunable height (60 mm)
– heatable and thermally adjustable up to 950°C
* Gas feeding system
*Vacuum system
*Closed-circuit chiller
*IR pyrometer (Williamson Pro 92 40) dual wavelength (2.1 e 2.4 mm) and optical fiber
*He-Ne laser (Melles Griot 30 mWatt) 632.8 nm, PM100D power energy meter and silicon power head (Thorlabs)
*Microwave (MW) generator (2.45 GHz SAIREM GMP 20KED/RI1325) able to work in continuous and pulsed mode
*Pulse generator (CENTRAD GF 265, frequency 0.1Hz-10kHz, duty cycle 10-90%).
The microwave generator supports continuous discharges with power between 0 and 1950W. It is connected to a square pulse generator, in the audiofrequency (Hz-kHz) range. The pulsed discharges are periodically turned on and off, depending on the employed audiofrequency.
The instrumentation for LIBS experiments consists of:
• Two Nd:YAG laser sources, with SHG and THG
• Three pulse generators for synchronous mode between the two lasers and with the detection system
• Optical bench and bending optics
• Detection system made of monochromator and ICCD
• Different set of optics for different experiments (LIBS, LIF, Stimulated Raman Scattering, spectroscopy during PLAL)
• Reaction chamber equipped with different viewport for spectroscopy with vacuum pump.
• High pressure liquid chamber with HPLC pump equipped with different viewport for spectroscopy (LIBS, PLAL)
• Oscilloscopes
• ICCD for imaging
• High speed camera for shadowgraph measurements
• Gas cabinet

Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD)

Le CAR-T (Chimeric Antigens Receptor Cells-T) sono cellule modificate in laboratorio a partire dai linfociti T. Rappresentano una nuova strategia di cura che sfrutta il sistema immunitario per combattere alcuni tipi di tumore come linfomi aggressivi a grandi cellule e leucemie linfoblastiche acute a cellule B. Il prof Attilio Guarini, ematologo all’Istituto tumori Giovanni Paolo II di Bari, le definisce la “vis sanatrix naturae della antica medicina salernitana”, trattandosi del potenziamento dell’attività citotossica dei linfociti del paziente opportunamente ingegnerizzati per riconoscere e contrastare alcuni tipi di cellule tumorali.
